To the timid warrior in doubt… the one lost in his fears of the unknown: u don’t have permission to give up or quit! There is no going back the way u came or fleeing! Lift up ur chin! Put ur eyes forward! Stick out ur chest and ball up ur fist to ur fears and march forward like a tank of iron!… even if u fall there’s victory… for what fool sings songs about the fall of a deserting coward?!…. none!… it’s only those who go all the way who are remembered and celebrated!

I am a walking contradiction of traditions some say. An African American and Native American Muslim poet with a personal life history as violently turbulent as a Storm. A visionary from the bottom of life’s social barrel striving to share the hope found in the light of faith through sometimes dark but real poetry. I’m a former member of the Bloods street gang, former serial bank robber, and both federal/state prison convict. I live on my mother’s tribal reservation of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
