U say I’m pleasing to look at, mild mannered, and relatively sharp and colorful… but If I constantly turn away and don’t look u in the eyes, please forgive me and understand… its a mercy to u… because The insanely violent, needy, and desperate hands of the flames raging behind my own two eyes will assuredly set ur innocently naive view of me to burn if u look in them for too long…and just because this is so, doesn’t make me bad or needing to be locked up or put down… just a little social distancing from me maybe.

I am a walking contradiction of traditions some say. An African American and Native American Muslim poet with a personal life history as violently turbulent as a Storm. A visionary from the bottom of life’s social barrel striving to share the hope found in the light of faith through sometimes dark but real poetry. I’m a former member of the Bloods street gang, former serial bank robber, and both federal/state prison convict. I live on my mother’s tribal reservation of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
