I followed my own words, and ended up in a place almost exactly where I was told another had been long before me that took similiar advice. The world will come to u the saying went…and u won’t even want it. This is the lonliest I’ve ever been in life regardless of the good some say I do. My prophet Muhammad said that he was like one standing in front of a fire trying to keep the moths from flying in to thier dooms. Regardless of his efforts, the attraction these moths had of the beauty they saw in that fire drove them to enter it…and perish. I understand that now. I care about ppl. I see myself pretty much in everyone now regardless of thier race, religion, or gender. But Our way now is of an obsession over meaningless Sexual conquests, drugs, alcohol, and spiritual rebellion. Greed… Stingyness.. Arrogance… Few understand me. They see me… They hear me… But I stand rejected… Because I stand in the way of that fire… And Nothing’s more painful than watching people u love throw themselves away following a promise u know is a lie. So I put my hands down… I quit my shouting… And stand back with a broken heart… And just watch…what else can I do…

I am a walking contradiction of traditions some say. An African American and Native American Muslim poet with a personal life history as violently turbulent as a Storm. A visionary from the bottom of life’s social barrel striving to share the hope found in the light of faith through sometimes dark but real poetry. I’m a former member of the Bloods street gang, former serial bank robber, and both federal/state prison convict. I live on my mother’s tribal reservation of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
