I say no to them only thinking of my saying of yes to u…no, I no longer love for the sake of just this temporal world…because her promises aren’t promised to be kept or honored…but u…even in God’s eternal garden there rests the hearts of purified lovers divinely United… and in there, there is the surety of unending love…so I say no now…so that should I perish here unfulfilled, I’ll find u there alone waiting by a heavenly fountain for me…ur husband to be… “here my sayyid, take a drink!” U’ll say … reesha hamraa…keep praying that I find u yaa haleelah…because with the escape of each breath I take, I draw closer God willing to the answering of one of my greatest earthly prayers…seeing, meeting, and being with u… forever…my haleelah!

I am a walking contradiction of traditions some say. An African American and Native American Muslim poet with a personal life history as violently turbulent as a Storm. A visionary from the bottom of life’s social barrel striving to share the hope found in the light of faith through sometimes dark but real poetry. I’m a former member of the Bloods street gang, former serial bank robber, and both federal/state prison convict. I live on my mother’s tribal reservation of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
