When u put urself away and follow the road shown, believing truthfully, that this is the very road of God almighty as intended by him for u, u look at the hordes before u who stand in between u and the object of ur heart and soul’s greatest desire as but a trifling and annoying bit of dust blowing in ur face… u look at them all and say, “No, u cannot and will not beat me!… not today, not tomorrow, not ever! Because even if I fall I win… and even if u apparently win u lose…true victory belongs to the believers and doers of goodness…the rest is a delusion I refuse to follow or submit to!…

I am a walking contradiction of traditions some say. An African American and Native American Muslim poet with a personal life history as violently turbulent as a Storm. A visionary from the bottom of life’s social barrel striving to share the hope found in the light of faith through sometimes dark but real poetry. I’m a former member of the Bloods street gang, former serial bank robber, and both federal/state prison convict. I live on my mother’s tribal reservation of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
