Truth is… the outcome of all ur efforts in life are hidden behind a curtain of unknowable mystery…the Sioux have a word they use I came to marvel over years ago in reference to our definite shared spiritual and physical Origin. Wakan Tanka…the great “ mystery” … the truly unknowable…how is it that we refuse to acknowledge as human beings regardless of our racial, lingual, or geographical differences an obvious truth… that it’s irrelevant if u call one thing by any name for that one thing in any tongue in the world, it doesn’t change what that one thing is its still the same thing!!! I’ve got many names…I’m still and have always been me… do u think I speak of a different Creator by calling him Allah while u call upon him by another name? How many different peoples are on this planet and how many different languages?… are there as many Creators as there are languages? Do u not see the foolishness of thought in spiritual exclusiveness on such a topic. The Almighty is above us not below us… I mean this metaphorically…he’s not completely bound in a name or place… names are but fingers pointing to an idea, reality, or concept. The Who and what and how of our maker will always be beyond our total understanding. This is why I live in awe of what I consider the author, initiator, and originator of existential reality which is all that can be perceived and known by our senses… beyond that, what we call the spirit world is even greater…and he is the master, lord, and owner of all of it… peace

I am a walking contradiction of traditions some say. An African American and Native American Muslim poet with a personal life history as violently turbulent as a Storm. A visionary from the bottom of life’s social barrel striving to share the hope found in the light of faith through sometimes dark but real poetry. I’m a former member of the Bloods street gang, former serial bank robber, and both federal/state prison convict. I live on my mother’s tribal reservation of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.
